Music, associations, graffiti, dance, volunteering, sport and more from August 11th-13th
Over the weekend of August 11th-13th Torrevieja will celebrate International Youth Day by bringing talented young people and activities for them out into the streets, said Councillor Víctor Ferrández.
He was announcing Torrejoven 2017, a new event will all sorts of activities in parks, plazas and promenades around the municipality.
As well as being a celebration, the aim is also to show residents and visitors all the different initiatives going on in the town by youth associations, musicians, artists, dancers, volunteers and athletes, among others.
The coordinator of the event from Alicante University’s Torrevieja headquarters, José Norberto Mazón said this initiative is “by young people and for young people”, and “a great opportunity to show off all the talent there is in Torrevieja”.
Friday, August 11th
6pm – Plaza de la Constitución. Information stands and activities put on by youth associations involved in everything from role playing to drama, roller skating to chess and many more.
There will also be information about courses available at Alicante University and activities for smaller children too, including balloon modelling and face painting.
Saturday, August 12th
6pm – Plaza de la Estación. Rap battle to find the best MCs with prizes including a recording studio session.
Graffiti exhibition with renowned artists like Xone and others.
9pm - Piscinas naturales del Paseo Juan Aparicio (seaside promenade). Free concerts by local musicians Bervera, Rais, Alba Ed Dounia and Jonathan Pons, whose different styles include pop, rock, flamenco, heavy metal.
Sunday, August 13th
8pm - Paseo Juan Aparicio. Demonstrations of street dance and other styles by the dance academies Payas, Soul Dance and María del Ángel.
Young people are encouraged to take photos of their weekend at the various activities and upload them to Instagram with the hashtag #Torrejoven2017 for the chance to win 4 tickets to Aquopolis Torevieja water park, dinner for two at Mesón El Huertano restaurant and a free t-shirt from Vega Baja Clothing.
