Torrevieja Mayor José Manuel Dolón has informed that the Ministry for Development has not replied to requests for progress on the scheme to turn the N-332 into a dual carriageway through the municipality. He announced a petition has now been started on Change.org to demand the work be carried out and put an end to the constant traffic jams and frequent accidents on this busy stretch of main road.
Dolón said the lack of action by the Ministry is bad for the image and interests of the town and something must be done once and for all about this obstacle that is holding back the local economy for society and tourism.
He said there is no explanation or justification after the Valencian Government refused to modify the plans when money was made available in the State Budgets for 2015, 2016 and 2017. He asked them to come and see how bad the problems are so they can tell the National Government how much damage it is doing to the area.
The mayor also informed that the National Traffic directorate refused the Town Hall permission to hang four banners demanding the dual carriageway from bridges on the N-332 and CV-95. Dolón said it seems they do not want people to know about the situation and promised to put them in other visible places in the municipality.
The next step in the campaign is a petition to collect signatures from everyone who wants the road widened. This is on the website Change.org here: https://www.change.org/p/ministro-de-fomento-%C3%AD%C3%B1igo-de-la-serna-torrevieja-desdoblamiento-cn-332-ya
"We will carry on, they are not going to discourage us," said the mayor.
