Two officers have completed trainingpolice canine unit

Two Torrevieja Local Police officers, José Antonio Del Peral Cantisano and José Ángel Martínez Pérez of the Operative Reinforcement Group (GRO) have completed dog handler training. They received their accreditation on Friday in Valencia, along with 35 other officers from around the Valencian Community.

They had to complete 150 hours of training, 40 of them theory and 110 practical, with their dogs, Athos and Eko. This has qualified them to carry out the important work of preventing drug use and dealing.

At the ceremony there were a series of exhibitions to show what they had learned in terms of discipline and searching for drugs.

Mayor José Manuel Dolón congratulated them and said he was pleased they will be available at the GRO base in the Alto de la Casilla, which has suitable facilities for the dogs on its patio. He said he hopes the creation of a Local Police canine unit in Torrevieja will soon be approved.
