Rojales will start its fiestas in honour of San Pedro Apóstol with the presentation of the Moors and Christians at the Teatro Capitol at 9pm on Saturday, then on Sunday with the firing of the Chupinazo rocket.
The firework will be let off at 12:30pm in the Plaza de España as a Mascleta firecracker display by the Carlos III stone bridge.
From then on until July 2nd there will be a mix of fun and religious events for residents and visitors to join in and enjoy.
The Chupinazo will be accompanied by a hosing down for the crowd to cool everyone off in this hot weather. The Town Hall will also hand out hats and water pistols and free drinks from a bar that will be set up in the square.
This year's Hoguera sculpture, which will be burned down at 11pm on June 20th, has the theme "The extraterrestrials are invading" and was set up on Avenida Justo Quesada on Friday.
