Rojales Mayor Antonio Pérez said the work of the Local Police is vital 365 days a year, at the celebration of the fiesta of the Ángeles Custodios (Guardian Angels), patron of the police.
Almost all 40 officers were there, led by chief Iñaki Esparza, as well as the parish priest, José Rives, and numerous officials and Guardia Civil from Almoradí and Torrevieja, among others.
The guestas were presented with a commemorative plaque in thanks for their collaboration with Rojales Local Police.
The mayor gave Iñaki Esparza a diploma from King Felipe VI awarding him the Cruz de Oficial (an Order of Civil Merit) for his service.
Pérez congratulated them all for their daily effort, “especially the officers because they are our citizens’ eyes, the closest and the first to help in any situation”, and he also thanked the Guardia Civil and National Police for their continued collaboration with the local force.
Iñaki Esparza also called for even closer coordination between the security forces.
One of the main activities was carrying the statue of the Ángeles Custodios from the Centro Sociocultural to the parish church for a Mass. The work, actions and careers of numerous local officers was also recognised during the event.
