Unemployment rose in the Vega Baja by 507 people during the month of September. The total number of registered unemployed is 27,296, according to the Valencian Employment and Training Service (SERVEF).
The end of the summer season puts a lot of people out of work, especially on the coast where many jobs are created by tourism. Torrevieja leads the rise with 621 people more on the unemployment lists compared to August. Pilar de la Horadada went up by 133 and Guardamar by 113.
On the contrary, the number of unemployed dropped significantly in Orihuela (-102), Callosa de Segura (-112), Redován (-38) and Bigastro (-32).
A total of 986 jobs were lost in the Services sector while in construction 230 jobs were created, 209 in Industry and 68 in Agriculture.
