A concert, ballet, tours in English and Christmas lights are on this week’s agenda
Orihuela Tourist Office has informed about various activities going on in the city and Orihuela Costa over the next few days. Also next week the British Consul is coming to give a talk to residents about Brexit.
On Friday December 1st the Dire Straits tribute band Brothers in Band will play a concert at the Teatro circo in Orihuela at 9pm. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster, Halcón Viajes, FNAC, Carrefour Viajes, or the theatre box office (), see also www.brothersinband.com
On Saturday December 2nd the Russian National Ballet will perform The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky at the Teatro Circo from 9pm. For tickets call the box office on 966 74 01 04.
On Tuesday December 5th and Thursday the 7th there will be cultural tours of historic Orihuela in English and French. It will include a walk around the old quarter and entrance to two museum to see the house of the poet Miguel Hernández and the famous sculpture known as La Diablesa (the She-Devil).
The tours leave from the Orihuela City Tourist Office at 11am and reservations can be made by calling 96 530 46 45 or 96 530 27 47. Bus transport can be arranged to Orihuela city from the coast or Entre Naranjos by calling the Tourist Info Orihuela Playa on 96 676 00 00 Ext.32. The bus will leave Playa Flamenca at 9am and set off to return at 3pm. It costs €5.40 from Playa Flamenca and €2.70 from Entre Naranjos.
The Chrsitmas lights will be turned on in Orihuela on Friday, December 1st at 7:30 in the Plaza del Carmen, followed by a dance parade and the inauguration of the municipal nativity in the Sacred Art Museum with singing from the Ginés Sánchez Choir.
The Christmas tree lights will be turned on at the Orihuela Costa Town Hall in Playa Flamenca on Tuesaday, December 5th at 6pm. The occasion will feature music from three choirs, "Generación Siglo XX","Crisol", and "Alameda del Mar".
