Torrevieja removes name of King's sister from sports centre over tax fraud court case
The sister of King Felipe VI of Spain, the Infanta (Princess who is not the heir-apparent) Cristina is not having one of her best moments. Cristina de Borbon was sat in the dock with the defendants in what is called the Noos case and the shadow of corruption and and alleged tax fraud hang over her.
As this story hit the national news, on Wednesday the metal letters making up the Infanta Cristina's name were removed from the Palacio de los Deportes sports centre in Torrevieja. Doña Cristina de Borbón is sixth in line to the throne and held the title of Duquesa de Palma until the king revoked it.
From now on the sports centre will simply be known as the Palacio de los Deportes de Torrevieja, as the coalition council promised when they took office.
The Town Hall added that they will remove each and every reference to the princess from the building, who it seems no matter how the court case ends will not get to live happily ever after with her ex handball player prince.
