This week is stew week in Guardamar del Segura, for which six local bars are offering their versions of traditional local meals that are full of flavour.
It started today with a conference at the Town Hall with experts discussing the tradition and culture of the Vega Baja through food, the history of desserts and healthy eating.
This was followed by a free tasting in the Plaza de la Constitución.
"Stew week links our gastronomic culture and history with tourism by this traditional meal, known by everyone," said Councillor Gisela Teva.
She highlighted that last year's event was so successful with over 300 people, and 100% of those asked if they would come to another one said yes.
Mayor José Luis Sáez said Guardamar has a lot of potential for gastronomy with its farms, the sea and its people, and he recommended buying local produce.
The participating restaurants are: Restaurante Hotel Eden Mar, Tapería La Biclicleta, Restaurante Los Rosales, Restaurante Pil-Pil, Bar Hernández, and Restaurante La Brújula.
Each one is offering a quality three course meal including starter, stew and dessert with drink for €20-€25.
Stew week continues until March 19th.
