Exhibition of genius inventions
June 13 - July 16Free
An exhibition about the unknown heroes behind genius inventions that have become part of our daily lives has opened in Torrevieja until July 16th.
“Héroes ocultos. Inventos geniales. Objetos cotidianos”, organised by “La Caixa” Social Work foundation, is free to visit in a marquee on the Paseo Vista Alegre and opens from 12pm-2pm and 5pm-11pm.
It celebrates ideas that have made life more practical and less effort, and have lasted through time some practically unmodified, without doubt exceeding the expectations of their creators. All these inventions which we don’t even notice because we are so used to them have clearly changed our way of life.
The exhibition features 21 everyday classics for example the ring binder, the band aid, bubble wrap, the paperclip, the elastic band, clothes pegs or tea bags. There are also four Spanish inventions: the botijo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Botijo), the mop, non drip oil pourers and the abanico hand fan.
The stories behind these objects also invite interesting conclusions about clever creative and business strategies.
At the end of the exhibition there is also an activity space called CaixaLab, which is aimed at 14-18 year olds and is an interactive and multimedia workshop where visitors can learn about entrepreneurialism.
