Activities for the fiestas in honour of San Juan in Catral have already started, with tonight featuring a karate exhibition at the Casa de Cultura at 8pm, followed by a Charanga musical parade by all the Peñas (fiesta clubs) at midnight, starting from the crossroads of C/Azorín y C/Purísima then around C/Azorín, C/Óscar Esplá, C/Santa Bárbara, Plaza de España, C/García Ortuño, C/Manuel Flores, Avda. Constitución and C/Purísima. After that from 1am there will be a street party with music and bars on C/Purísima and Avda. Constitución.
But the partying begins in earnest on Saturday, June 17th at 11:30am with the Chupinazo festival, when the Peñas start another parade from Calle García Ortuño back to the Plaza de España for 1pm, where everyone will go crazy with a DJ, free beer for everyone, water pistols, swimming costumes and fancy dress.
At 8pm the Grand Fancy Dress Parade will go along C/Manuel Flores, Avda. Constitución and C/Purísima, followed by another street party from 1am.
On Sunday June 18 the Municipal Swimming Pool will open with a party from 11am with a DJ and inflatables until 2pm. At 7:30pm the more solemn Corpus Christi procession will take place, and there will be stand up comedy in the Casa de Cultura Plaza from 10pm
