If you thought you’d have to wait another 12 months before hearing the sweet sound of Christmas carols in the centre of Torrevieja, you’re mistaken, as for the rest of this week, until Sunday, there is a programme of carols taking place every evening from 19.00h.

The second edition of ‘Villancicos en la Plaza’ is being held from this evening, where children from a number of local schools will perform a concert to the public.

Although the event is being touted as ‘Carols in the Square’, the actual performances will take place in Calle Maldonado, as this street provides a better stage for the children and the public will be able to view them better.

The programme of concerts is as follows:

🎄Tuesday 18 December: Coro Colegio La Purísima
🎄Wednesday 19 December: Banda Juvenil y Coro de la Escuela de Música de la Unión Musical Torrevejense
🎄Thursday 20 December: Coro y Orquesta de Cuerda Conservatorio Municipal Maestro Casanovas
🎄Friday 21 December: Coro Infantil Coral Francisco Vallejos – Coro Infantil Colegio Ntra. Sra. del Rosario
🎄Saturday 22 December: Jerez por Navidad – Coro los Finales de Jerez de la Frontera
🎄Sunday 23 December: Coro Parroquial Adonai

The Department of Fiestas from the town hall has also organised a magic performance for children by the group ‘Navidades Mágicas’. This will take place on 23 December at 12.00h in the Plaza de Encarnación Puchol in Torrelamata.

And to round off the programme of events, you can’t miss out on Charles Dickens’ classic “Cuento de Navidad” or A Christmas Carol, which is being performed on Thursday 27 December at 18.00h at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Centre. Tickets are 10€ each for adults and 8€ for children under the age of 14.
