We featured this tour a couple of week ago and found it extremely popular, well the good news again is that the tours have been extended, with even more dates added

The city of Alicante suffered up to 71 bombings during the Spanish Civil War from 1936 to 1939. In these guided tours, visitors are introduced to the historical and social context that surrounds the construction and use of shelters in the city of Alicante.

The two bunkers visited on the tour are R31 (Seneca square) and R46 (Balmis square), where a guide tells visitors the stark truth behind the shelters and the stories hidden in the walls that were set to protect those who sought protection from them.

Here are the dates for the next couple of weeks:

  • SAT 24 November – 12:00 – 13:45 & 17:00 – 18:45
  • SUN 25 November – 12:00 – 13:45

Because of how busy the tours are, and the limited number of places available, booking is essential. You can book places, or just ask for information, by telephoning 690 004 431, or sending an email to [email protected]

These scheduled tours are in Spanish, however, if the organisers get enough interest in other languages, they may be able to arrange an extra tour to suit, at a personalised time and day.

There is a small charge for the tours, but given the journey you will be taken on, it is a small price to pay, especially compared to those who wander the halls before you.
