If you fancy giving nature a helping hand, especially if you’re in or near the Gran Alacant area, we have just the event for you

Meet new friends and help nature at the same time, that’s what Sunday can be about as volunteers are helping to revegetate a beautiful area, hidden away and not known by too many, at the Clot de Galvany.

Every Sunday in November volunteers are called upon to help out the experts at the site, planting saplings which will eventually grow into a stunning addition to this amazing landscape.

The event is taking place today, but don’t worry if you already have plans, as you can also join in next week.

You do have to register however, which can be done through the department for the environment at Elche town hall, but it can be done through the website, https://clotdegalvany.es/labores-voluntarias-revegetacion/, or by telephoning, 966 65 80 28.

If you don’t know where the Clot de Galvany is, follow the N-332 from the Torrevieja area towards Alicante-Elche airport, coming off at Gran Alacant. Follow that road all the way through the urbanisation, up and then down the steep and windy hill. When you get to the bottom you could turn right for the beach, or go straight on, but instead, turn left, after short time you will see a car park and you have arrived. Park the car, go to the visitor centre, then take a couple of hours walking around the paths in the area enjoying the natural environment that is an oasis hidden in a concrete jungle.
