Jazz lovers are in for a treat this Friday evening as Cuban-born jazz pianist Roberto Fonseca brings his Afro-Cuban band to the auditorium in Torrevieja for a once-in-a-lifetime concert.
The Roberto Fonseca Trio will be the first in a cycle of three jazz concerts taking place over the course of this weekend.
Fonseca, who at the age of 15 had already made his successful debut at the Havana International Jazz Festival, will be presenting his latest album – Abuc – a musical journey through the various styles of music popular in the Caribbean over the years, including jazz, bolero, chachacha and even hip hop.
Abuc has received many first-class reviews from critics including the following from The Guardian: “Fonseca is a famously eclectic artist, his playing steeped in American jazz and African music as much as the rhythms of bolero and son, but even by his standards, ABUC is an astonishingly broad, tightly fused and incandescently delivered vision.”
