The fiestas in San Miguel will continue for another two weeks and there are still plenty of varied activities for everyone to enjoy.

The programme of events for this weekend is as follows:

Friday 28 September

Flower offering to the town’s patron saint San Miguel Arcángel starting at 20.00h in Calle Orihuela.

Following this, in the Plaza de la Libertad, there will be a musical performance by the La Mundial Orchestra.

And, the night continues in the Barraca Popular (tents) with a terrifying night of ‘tortas’ (cakes) – no idea what that could be, but you will be surprised! At 3.00h, the same as each year, everyone will eat the traditional tortas together.

Saturday 29 September

This is the big day and it will be heralded with firecrackers and rockets in the morning.

At midday, the Solemn Mass will take place, which will be sung by the local Alcores Choir in honour of the patron saint.

The main procession honouring San Miguel Arcángel will take place at 20.00h and this will be followed by a huge firework display.

To top of the day, the Abba tribute band will perform after the fireworks.

However, for those that want to continue the party, you can head off to the Barraca Popular, where young rapper and reggae artist Soge Culebra will perform. This young artist from Murcia is only 18 years old, yet he is well known worldwide thanks to YouTube and the videos he has posted.

Sunday 30 September

Concert by the Unión Musical San Miguel de Salinas at 21.00h in the Plaza de la Libertad.
