Safe space set up for information and protection from any kind of abuse

Using the slogan “Rojales does not tolerate sexual assaults” the Town Hall has started a campaign to sensitise people about thoughtless sexism, sexual harassment and enjoying free time without risk of sexual attacks.

During the Moors and Christians fiesta parades, this Saturday and Sunday there will be a “punto violeta” safe zone set up by the historic stone bridge of Carlos III between 7:30pm and 11pm. If anyone witnesses or suffers abuse of any kind they can be attended to there by qualified personnel who will be identifiable by a bracelet.

There will also be information flyers and condoms available, and badges with the campaign slogan, all to raise public consciousness and so people know what to do  in case they experience any kind of bullying or sexual assault or see any incident of this kind.

Councillor Inmaculada Chazarra said they want to provide the maximum resources to people from Rojales and visitors, on top of the planned security, medical and emergency services. As well as providing a safe space to find out information and attend to possible sexual assaults, they will also have information about sexually transmitted diseases.
