Events on from Wednesday until the grande finale on Sunday
Rojales has been in full Moors and Christians party flow for the last 10 days, and although there are still six days of celebrations remaining, this year’s fiestas will culminate on Sunday 1 July.
The Moors and Christians fiestas in Rojales began on 16 June and have been running alongside the town’s own fiestas held in honour of their patron saint, Saint Peter the Apostle.
If you haven’t yet made it down to Rojales to see what’s going on and take in the festive atmosphere, something in the programme of events below might take your fancy.
Wednesday 27 June
20:00h: Firing of the blunderbusses from the Plaza beside the Archaeological Museum followed by the taking of the castle.
Thursday 28 June
22:30h: Charanga (Summer Carnival Parade) with the participation of the Moors and Christians.
Friday 29 June
All-day parade by the Giants and Big Heads around the streets accompanied by the ‘dulzainas’ (little clarinets) and drums.
09:00h: Parade by the La Lira Music Band through the streets of Rojales.
21:00h: Solemn procession with the statue of San Pedro followed by a magnificent firework display.
Saturday 30 June
20:00h: Parade of the Music Bands.
21:00h: Grand Moors and Christians Parade.
Sunday 1 July
21:00h: Grand Moors and Christians Parade followed by the Fiesta’s closing speeches.
