Hop! festival from June 29th to July 1st
The Hop! Street Circus Festival will be coming to Torrevieja this coming weekend (June 29th, 30th and July 1st) bringing entertainment for all ages.
Councillor Domingo Pérez said it is another of the Town Hall’s efforts to offer culture in the street with quality, free activities.
The promoter, Emmanuel Vizcaíno of Nacho Vilar Producciones explained there are eight shows by different companies from all over Spain and a circus workshop for children. Four of them have been recommended by the Spanish Theatre Network, as well as other awards, and all have been presented at world renowned festivals.
The first, on Friday June 29th at 8pm, is The Wolves by La Fam Theatre Company with stilt walkers and live music accompanying people from the Hombre del Mar statue along the Paseo Juan Aparicio to the first of the Piscinas Naturales swimming areas.
At 9:30pm the company Cirk About It from León will present El Apartamento (The Apartment), featuring circus, humour and acrobatics, which won the FETÉN Prize for Best Street Show of 2017 among others.
On Saturday at 6pm on the Paseo Vista Alegre at the Children’s Circus Workshop they will be able to learn about the circus arts through play and fun. It is provided by the Passabarret Company, who at the end will put on the clowning and circus show Rodolfo & Rita for all the family.
Then on the Paseo Juan Aparicio at 9pm La Mandarina Company will offer the show Hecho en Casa (Made at Home) involving a cyr wheel and jugglers. At 10:30pm is the show Todo Encaja (Everything Fits Together) by the UpArte Company, with acrobatic lifts, leaps and aerial work, which will presented on the forecourt outside the Centro Cultural Virgen del Carmen.
On the last day, The Power of the 80s by Gonzalo Santamaria will provide a light hearted end to the festival with laughter and music from the 1980s at 7:30pm on the Paseo de Vista Alegre. Then at 8:30pm the stage will shift to the forecourt of the Centro Cultural Virgen del Carmen for the show Seu-te!by the Alicante company Acrobacía Mínima, after a successful run at the Alcoy Theatre Festival.
The closing act of Hop! will be Potted by La Trócula Circ, a skilful and poetic show that has won countless awards and featured in the most important international festivals.
During the festival, the public can approach the information point at all of the shows to find out the rest of the programme and have their photo taken with the performers. the organisers will compile the photos, videos and stories on social networks with the hashtag #HOP2018.
