Industrial estate will be setting for scenes from latest in sci-fi action saga

The municipality of Catral has been chosen as the setting to film some scenes from the movie Terminator 6, which will be directed by Tim Miller and produced by James Cameron and David Ellison. Mayor Pedro Zaplana confirmed this on Wednesday after the Agency EFE revealed the information on Tuesday.

Zaplana said a producer contacted the Town Hall a few weeks ago to suggest using the San Juan industrial estate for this because it was “ideal” for what they had in mind. The producer already has permission to close certain streets during filming or change aspects in the area.

The producer also contacted some of the warehouse owners to store equipment and set up their base camp.

The mayor said this is important for the municipality because it will be seen nationally and internationally, and also helps the local economy because local companies are being used to do some of the work, for example building a wall.

Filming is expected to start in the first half of July. The film will star Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton, but it is not known if they will be coming to the Vega Baja. It does not yet have a title but is scheduled to be released on November 22, 2019.
