Work has already been started on cleaning up some of the Coast’s sports facilities
The councillor for Sports from the town hall of Orihuela, Víctor Valverde, announced earlier this week that around 100,000 euro would be used to clean up, maintain and improve the sports facilities on the Orihuela Costa.
Already some of this work, which includes weeding, repairing fences and nets, plus raking and cleaning the petanca courts, has been started and almost completed at Punta Prima, Cabo Roig and La Regia.
For these tasks, and others, the council has designated two people on an almost permanent basis all year round. This is the first time the Coast has had its own employees to do this.
The councillor stated that Orihuela Council has responded to petitions from many users of the local sports facilities to improve their state.
A total of 39,000 euro is being spent on fixing the electrics and lighting system of the Los Arcos municipal football pitch, together with replacing the irrigation system’s water tank at the end of the season, which is currently in a poor condition.
A further 27,000 euro will be spent on installing a dehumidifier in the spa and jacuzzi area of the Palacio del Agua. This will allow certain levels of humidity in the air to be maintained once a new machine has been fitted.
Similarly, the hot water system at the Municipal Sports Centre of Orihuela Costa will also be improved.
The councillor said: “Our aim is to keep all the sports facilities of Orihuela and the Coast well maintained so that their users can practice all types of sporting activity in good conditions.”
