This initiative launched by the EU is open to 18-year-olds but registration closes soon
If you´re 18 years of age and fancy travelling through Europe this summer, an initiative launched by the EU means you can jump on the train and explore the entire continent for free.
The interrail network represents one of the most pleasant ways to travel through Europe, especially for younger people. The system allows European citizens and residents to use unlimited trains from the countries they visit for the price of one ticket. However, this summer, people who turn 18 have the opportunity to do so completely free of charge .
The initiative launched by the European Parliament , known as ‘DiscoverEU’ , which has a budget of 12 million euro to be distributed among the member states of the Union, could allow some 15,000 young people to enjoy this program, without worrying about paying for transportation.
In extreme cases, such as residents from extreme locations not served by trains to the continent, such as the Canary Islands, it is possible to apply for the first leg of the journey by plane to be subsidised.
