Their complaints include deterioration of green areas and need to improve street cleaning
Torrevieja Mayor José Manuel Dolón met this week with residents of areas in the south of Torrevieja, Mar Azul, Eliseos Playa, Los Chimos and Playa Verde.
The residents were especially interested in the swimming areas between Cala Ferrís and La Veleta, asking for action to prevent their deterioration and make them easier to access. They also wanted better street cleaning and maintenance of green areas.
The mayor promised to visit again with the municipal biologist and Councillor for Beaches to see first hand what the area needs. He also called in a manager from the street cleaning department to take note of the residents’ complaints and he promised to keep checking they are being dealt with.
Dolón informed them about recent action which enabled several plots of land and public spaces to be cleaned up. He also promised the children’s playground by the promenade would be repaired.
He also gave them information about the status of the project to create a pedestrian path between Paseo de los Náufragos and Urbanisation Rocío del Mar. A solution has now been sent in reply to a question from the government’s Coast Department, which ‘it seems is now definitively resolved’, said the mayor. He told them about his meeting with the new directors of state water company Acuamed to unblock the project, which has been on hold since police intervened in a corruption scandal, blocking all its projects in Torrevieja and the rest of Spain.
The mayor is arranging for a copy of the full walkway project to be given to the residents, which he will tell them about when they next meet at Cala Ferrís.
