Man was trapped in remote area of path around reservoir
Officers of the Guardia Civil from San Miguel de Salinas rescued a cyclist on Sunday who had suffered a fall on a path that goes around La Pedrera reservoir, near the village of Torremendo in Orihuela.
It happened at 8:30am and the officers had to cover several kilometres on foot to reach the approximate location of the cyclist, informed the Giardia Civil in a press release.
The place was very isolated and impossible to access with vehicles, so it was decided to call in the Valencian government helicopter, which took the injured man to an area where it could land. The cyclist was found to have a broken ankle and he was taken to Torrevieja Hospital.
