Show marks announcement of Spanish Guitar Festival in the city

A free concert by the famous classical guitarist José Luis Martínez Moreno will take place in Orihuela on Friday at La Lonja Auditorium, announced mayor Emilio Bascuñana. He said it is to promote the first Spanish Guitar Festival of the Mediterranean, which will be held in the city in September.

This concert is called “a small history of the guitar” and will start at 7:30pm. It consists of a voyage by the guitar from the olden days to the present, starting with the Renaissance “Greensleeves”, “Recadora sobre la Romanesca” and “Fantasía”, then Baroque with “Chacona en re menor”, to the 18th and 19th centuries with “Variaciones sobre Malborough Op 28”, then Romanticism with con “Rumores de la Caleta”, and “Recuerdos de Alhambra”, ending with the 20th and 21st centuries with some of José Luis Martínez;s own pieces, like “Río de luz”, “Giga Emiliana”, “Reflejos”, “Viviana”, “Marios” and “Partida Doble”.

The first Spanish Guitar Festival in September will bring together guitarists of different styles who are united by the Mediterranean. You will be able to hear flamenco guitar in fusion with Turkish music, the virtuoso Greek style, Balkan music and orchestral guitar. Among the artists will be Dimitris Kotronakis (Greece), Ezgi Anil “Paquito” (Turkey), Dúo Levante (Bosnia and Serbia); Edoardo Catemario and José Luis Martínez Moreno (Spain).
