Valencian Court overturns Orihuela bullfight ban

Cambiemos calls for  appeal against sentence which also orders Town Hall to pay €3,000 The Superior Court of the Valencian Community (TSJCV) has overturned Orihuela Town Hall’s decision to ban shows on public land from using animals, including bullfights. That motion was made by the Cambiemos party in October 2015 and approved with the votes of the Socialists (PSOE) and Ciudadanos, while the Partido Popular voted against and Foro Democrático abstained. Sculptures inspired by devotion in Orihuela

Exhibition of works by one of Spain’s great 20th century sculptors A new exhibition is opening on Saturday May 5th at the Museo de Arte Sacro (Museum of Sacred Art) in Orihuela. Called Fortes in fide (Strong in faith) it contains works by one of the great sculptors of the 20th century in Spain, Federico Coullaut-Valera, and various complementary activities have been planned. Torrevieja plaza closed for road works

Damaged cobbles being replaced with tarmac after botch-job by previous council Work started this week to repave the streets around the Plaza de Oriente, Pedro Lorca, Moriones, Ulpiano and Zoa, which had become so deteriorated they were causing problems for traffic and pedestrians. Torrevieja Mayor José Manuel Dolón visited the site on Wednesday with Councillor Domingo Soler. The job started by digging up the existing surface with heavy machinery and pneumatic drills, and taking the old cobbles and gravel to the tip.
