He beat her to death in San Miguel then faked her disappearance
The Superior Court of the Valencian Community (TSJCV) has confirmed the sentence of 14 years in prison for a man aged 77 who beat his girlfriend to death in San Miguel de Salinas.
The man was convicted by the Alicante Provincial Court last July the 11th for homicide aggravated by their relationship and his appeal to the TSJCV has now been turned down.
The killing happened in September 2014 when, according to the sentence the couple, who are both British, lived together in a home that he owned. After drinking alcohol, they had an argument over money which led to shouts and insults.
At one point of the quarrel the victim went to the kitchen where she fell on the floor and was lying face down unable to get up. The accused took advantage of this to hit her several times in the head with his walking stick and she died as a result of the blows.
Two days later the accused took the woman’s body to the countryside in Algorfa and hid it with some branches. the next day he reported her disappearance to the Guardia Civil.
The man simulated his girlfriend’s disappearance until March 2015 when he confessed what he had done.
The sentence orders the man to compensate the two children of the victim with €37,000 each for the moral damage caused.
