Local Police detained him on Saturday night

Algorfa Local Police arrested a man on Saturday April 28th for alleged gender violence. It happened at about 11pm when the bar manager called the police saying there was an incident causing a disturbance in the establishment.

Two police patrols arrived and found a man who seemed drunk and issued him with a fine.

The couple left for their home in a private vehicle driven by the woman and then the officers, who were following the vehicle noticed that the man had started hitting her.

The officers intervened to help the victim and arrest the alleged aggressor. After telling him he was under arrest and reading him his rights they took him to Almoradí Guardia Civil station for referral to a court.

Both the Local Police and Mayor Manuel Ros thanked the officers for their diligence and called on the public for their help, as a simple phone call can be enough to detain suspected aggressors.

Remember, there is also a Government helpline service for gender violence on the number 016, which is free and does not appear on telephone bills. Questions can also be asked by email to the address: [email protected]
