Free shows and workshops are on until Sunday

Torrevieja has programmed various events to mark International Dance Day between now and Sunday. The initiative is a joint venture by the Municipal Culture Institute, Alicante University and the Municipal Dance School. All the performances are at the Centro Cultural Virgen del Carmen at 8pm.

On Thursday April 26th the most outstanding ex-students of the Municipal Dance School will perform a show.

On Friday the 27th the Murcian Dance Company will present a show in two parts: Spanish dance with Quiroga, and a flamenco fantasy inspired by the poet Rafael Alberti and composed by Vicente Amigo.

On Saturday the 28th the renowned dancer from Elche, Asun Noales of the company OtraDanza will bring interwar period cabaret with Clandestino, a show full of mystery and fun.

Finally on Sunday the 29th there will be a mix of conference and performance as award winning Catalan choreographer Toni Jodar explains and performs the history of dance.

Entry to all the shows is free with an invitation, which can be collected on request from the Centro Cultural Virgen del Carmen.

In addition, the popular Dancing in the Street initiative will return on Saturday the 28th from 10am-12pm on the Paseo de Vista Alegre, with dance schools from Torrevieja and other places in the area choreographed by local dancer Arantxa Blanco.

There are also free workshops in ballet and stylised Spanish dance for various levels on Sunday the 29th from 10am-2pm. Places are limited so to register send an email to [email protected]
