Concert will celebrate International Jazz Day on Sunday

Sunday April 30th is International Jazz Day and the Torrevieja Municipal Culture Institute has booked the Dan Barrett Quintet to play a concert.

This Californian musician and arranger is without doubt one of the most important jazz trombonists on the international scene, with an impressive career of more than 100 recordings.

He has formed part of bands with the likes of Benny Goodman, Woody Herman or Buck Clayton, and recorded with singers of the stature of Rosemary Cloony, Mel Tormé and Tony Bennet among many others.

His production discography is so large and includes recordings with the most prestigious labels as well as  numerous appearances as a soloist and his trombone takes a starring role on movie soundtracks like Francis Ford Coppola’s Cotton Club and Woody Allen’s Bullets over Broadway, Everyone Says I Love You and Mighty Aphrodite.

The concert is at the Palacio de la Música at 8:30pm but details of tickets have not been released yet and will be published in the Costa Daily Events section as soon as they are available.
