Monarch expected to attend farmers’ conference in Torrevieja and Orihuela

King Felipe VI could visit the Vega Baja for the first time in May as he has been invited to the 14th National Conference of Communities of Irrigators at the Torrevieja International Auditorium from May 14th-18th.

The organisers want him to close the event, which will have over 1,500 guests including Valencian Government president Ximo Puig.

Costa Daily understands that the Royal Household has confirmed his attendance but, as always with the King’s agenda, “it will not be totally official until 3 or 4 days beforehand”.

The intention is also for King Felipe to have a meal in Orihuela for guests of the conference. Since Orihuela is the capital of the Vega Baja with some of the country’s principal farms, they want the city to also have its due prominence.

The conference will analyse the principal concerns of the farming sector and will involve municipalities like Guardamar, Rojales, Algorfa, Benijófar, Los Montesinos, Almoradí, Torrevieja, San Miguel and Orihuela.
