Orihuela village of Molins hosts sixth edition of popular cycling fun day

The Pepe Esquiva park in the village of Molins in the Orihuela countryside is the setting for the sixth annual Family Bike Ruta Verde on Sunday, April 22nd.

The local fiestas committee, with help from the Town Hall and the association Amigos de la Cultura y el Mundo Rural.

It starts at 9:30am with a challenge game known as a Gymkhana (but not involving any horses) with prizes for the first 50 children under 12 to register, for the oldest cyclist, the youngest, the most original bicycle and the best fancy dress costume.

At 10:30am there will be a rally of classic bicycles plus classic automobiles as well from La Carbonilla association in Redován.

At 11:30 the 9 kilometre cycle ride will start and take in the spring magic of the traditional local countryside.

Molins village mayor Reyes Esquiva said to register call 667 304 800 or go to the local Centro Cívico, or just turn up on the day before 11:30, “as long as the cyclists bring a helmet to guarantee their safety”.

At the end of the ride, the younger children will be able to play on bouncy castles and the prizes will be awarded.
