Tour on April 21st complements exhibition and children’s workshop
Orihuela will be celebrating world Bicycle Day with activities from Thursday, April 19th- Sunday the 22nd.
Councillor Miguel Ángel Fernández said they will promote this mode of transport which is good for people’s health and does not pollute the environment.
There will be an exhibition about the history of the bicycle at La Lonja exhibition hall in Orihuela city with over 30 examples from different periods of history. It will open each day from 10am-2pm and 5pm-8pm.
On Saturday the 21st, also at La Lonja, a workshop will teach children how to maintain their bikes by fixing punctures and oiling the chain. There will be two sessions, at 11:30am and 12:30pm.
That same day there will be a 10 kilometre cycle tour in Orihuela Costa, starting from the Municipal Sports Centre (CDM) on Calle Niagara, organised with volunteers from the Pasión BTT cycling club.
The councillor invited everyone to join in the activities.
Pasión BTT Cycling Club also presented the IX Ruta BTT 2018, a 120km cycle from Orihuela to Caravaca on Saturday, April 14th. It will start at the Recinto Ferial Los Huertos at 6:30am, and pass along the River Segura and the north east Vía Verde country trail, ending at Caravaca and then returning by bus. There are 120 places available.
