A decade ago Rojales Town Hall organised its first Tapas Route, and the first of its kind to be held anywhere in the Vega Baja, since when it has served thousands of these delightful little dishes. For the tenth edition, which is from Friday, November 25th until Sunday, November 27th a total of 10 establishments will be offering a wide variety of cuisines. The price of a tapa and a small beer will be just €2.
At the presentation there was a tasting of the tapas that will be on offer this weekend by a professional jury that will be deciding which are the best traditional, innovative and best overall tapas.
Councillor Edelmira Andreu said the event is important to the municipality not just for its economic impact but because it attracts many people from other places and because it promotes traditional cookery.
The participating restaurants and their star tapas are: La Noria with Miniature Cookery, and Ocean Race Delight; Spirit with Ñora and Artichoke; El Paseo with Roast port with turrón sauce, and Meatballs in aromatic coconut sauce; Josemar with The Best of the Riverbank and Galician Quality; Cosmo with Our Salas and Bali Chicken; Tu Cantina with A Complete, and Ham with chorreras (in batter with cheese); La Laguna with Sunday Hangover and Taurine Fusion; the Old Don Carlos with Lamb Tripe, and Piquillo peppers in Passion brotherhood; Casa Antonio with Pan pijo y habas and Mape; and finally Don Carlos with Morterueo (stew) Conquense, and Crunchy Salmonete (red mullet) with contrasts.
