Last virgin coast in Orihuela threatened by housing plan

The Podemos party in the Valencian Parliament has asked the government how it plans to protect Cala Mosca in Orihuela Costa, one of the last spaces of virgin coastline in the south of Alicante province. The area is also a plant micro-reserve but it is threatened by the planned urbanisation Alameda del Mar.

Podemos MP for Alicante, Entonio Estañ noted that in a year the Valencian Government’s Plan for Territorial Action for Green Infrastructure of the Coast (PATIVEL) comes into force, which will provide legal protection for the coast against property speculation.

In this sense, the MP wants to know why Cala Mosca has not been included in the spaces to be protected by the plan and whether it plans to include it.
