The 2017 Orihuela Medieval Market will be held on February 3rd, 4th and 5th. The council approved the conditions for the contract on Tuesday.
Councillor Francisco Sáez explained that the organisers will have to pay at least €6,000; that is to say, the company that the contract is awarded to must pay the Town Hall a minimum of €6,000, although this amount could increase if they offer a higher amount.
In this way, the Medieval Market will return to its original dates, after the controversy last year when it was moved to April. At that time there were no bids for the contract and the date had to be put back again, so Councillor Mariola Rocamora announced it would return to February because this was also the wish of the local Moors and Christians Committee.
“We have changed the date so there is no kind of problem with such an important celebration for Orihuela,” said Sáez.
He also indicated that the conditions of the contract “comply perfectly with what is required for a medieval market such as Orihuela’s”.
