Patients at Torrevieja Hospital wait an average of 31 days for surgery, compared to the average 127 day wait at other public hospitals in the Valencian Community, according to the latest data from the Valencian Government, which refers to the month of September.
It is worth noting that in September there is usually an increase to waiting times as a result of the reduction in scheduled operations over the summer holidays.
Despite this, in specialities like Dermatology, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology and Vascular Surgery the delays were even lower in September, when they were 16, 19, 20 and 16 days respectively.
The hospitals Outpatient Major Surgery Programme has enabled about 70% of operations to be performed without patients staying overnight afterwards. This modern form of treatment is only safe and effective thanks to the surgical techniques and excellent anaesthetics applied by experienced professionals. The patient also benefits because they get a quicker response to their health problems with fewer delays.
