Orihuela will be celebrating World Food Day this Saturday, October 15th with a day about nutrition and healthy eating at La Lonja Auditorium in the city. Councillor Noelia Grao said “we will analyse the relationship between food and illnesses, especially with cancer”.
The day will start at 10:45am with a short presentation by councillors, followed at 11am by a cookery show of two recipes (one vegan and one gluten free), using ecological products by the cook and gastronome Luis Penyafort. “We will find out about other ways of eating taking into account the properties of ecological produce,” said Grao.
Next the health store Herbolario Navarro will offer a tasting of ecological juices and snacks, before a talk entitled “Food and cancer” by Daniel Blanco and Pablo Vidal, experts in Nutrition and Dieting and directors of the Reverde Nutrition and Health Centre.
Also the cancer charity Más Vida will offer a salsa dancing workshop, for which participants can make a donation of food and hygiene products that will go to people in need. The charity’s president, Esteban San Martín noted the importance of dance for people’s well being. This will take place from 7:30pm to 10:30pm at the Glorieta Gabriel Miró.
Councillor Sabina-Goretti Galindo assured it will be “a fun day that will teach us about ecological produce, taking care of food and the health and well being of people of all ages”.
