Spanish Dog Agility Championship in Torrevieja

About 200 dogs and their trainers will be competing this weekend Torrevieja will host the third Dog Agility Championship of Spain on October 14th, 15th and 16th at the athletics track of the Palacio de los Deportes sports centre, in which more than 200 dogs with their trainers will be competing. After a day of training and checks on the Friday, the opening ceremony will be on Saturday the 15th at 9am with the presentation of clubs and the first leg of the Agility junior will start at 9:45am. Afterwards will come the Jumping events for teams and individuals, in which only the best will go on to compete the following day in the Agility events for teams and individuals. On Sunday it starts at the same time with the second leg of the Agility junior and then the main Agility events, followed by the awarding of trophies to the champions. This championship is being organised by the Club Agility de Torrevieja and forms part of the official competition of the Royal Spanish Hunting Federation, with support from the Town Hall. New equipment to clean Orihuela Costa drains

Residue removed for treatment to let clean water through The first usage of new equipment to remove non hazardous residue from the Orihuela Costa sewage network was supervised by Councillor Miguel Ángel Fernández, and the manager of the water company, Hidraqua, Juan José Alonso this week. Trucks with suction pumps are being used to clean the system. Fernández indicated it is the first time this type of equipment has been used, with the installation of three containers to store the extracted residue so that it can be treated afterwards so that clean water can be put back into the sewers and the waste can be taken to an authorised deposit site. In this way the Town Hall an the company will be complying with the European Waste List (EWL) regarding residue from cleaning out sewers. The residue extracts consists of “sand, gravel and wet wipes that have to be removed to prevent obstructions”, explained the manager of Hidragua, and this will prevent future problems in the Orihuela Costa sewage network. Young tractor driver killed in accident

Victim was a resident of Almoradí On Friday afternoon there was a tragic work related accident on the Abanilla canal service road, in the San José area of Callosa, which ended the life of a young tractor driver, who was 36 years old and a resident of Almoradí. Victim pulled dead from the water on Friday A 75 year old man of Norwegian nationality died on Friday while he was swimming at Cabo Roig beach in Orihuela Costa, according to the Emergencies Information and Coordination Centre (CICU). Out of control car smashes through Orihuela city centre

Four occupants arrested after signposts, street lights and bollards knocked over A spectacular accident caused by a car travelling at high speed on Calle Pintor Agrasot in central Orihuela forced it to be closed to traffic for over an hour. Despite the shocking damage caused, fortunately no one was injured. It happened at about 3:30pm today (Monday). A BMW with four youths inside entered the street at high speed taking everything in its way with it : signposts, a street light, a parked moped and three bollards separating the road from the pavement, according to police sources.
