San Fulgencio fiestas are underway

Virgen del Remedio celebrations are just the tonic Some highlights from last year’s fiestas San Fulgencio is also celebrating at the moment, with its fiestas for the Virgen del Remedio, starting with the parade and coronation for the Fiesta Queens on Saturday and a Tractor Driving Ability Contest on Sunday – this is a small farming village after all. Religion is important too, with Masses each day of the week organised by residents of the different areas. Next weekend the activities really kick in with the offering of flowers, the parade of floats and the parade for the Virgen. They continue into the week after with a big outdoor picnic dinner and dance, children’s games, a ribbon race, a running race and a comedy play.   VIRGEN DEL REMEDIO FESTIVITY PROGRAMME 2016 Saturday 1st October 8 p. m. – Street parade to collect the Queens and Ladies-in-waiting, as usual along with the “Unión Musical de San Fulgencio”. 9 p. m. – CORONATION O F QUEENS AND LADIES IN WAITING 2016 GALA. Game shows, tradition and fun at Los Montesinos fiestas

Get the full programme in English here The fiestas for Los Montesinos’ patron, the Virgen del Pilar started last Sunday with the traditional pilgrimage to La Marquesa church, but most of the festivities are between October 1st and 12th. They include Los Montesinos Prix, a game show like It’s a Knockout; Los Monteinos Express, based on the US show The Amazing Race; a concert by singer Rafa Blas, winner of La Voz (The Voice; a big open air dance with the Jamaica band; the Siéntete una estrella (Feel Like a Star) impression competition; sporting tournaments; bicycle rides; and traditional activities like parades, a ribbon race and religious acts. Councillor Alejandro Espi said they have improved the programme so that everyone ejoys themselves as much as possible.
