Idea received the most votes at public meeting about next year’s budget

The construction of a stock of municipal housing and grants for restorations was the proposal that received the most votes (45) at the open assembly which was the culmination of the public participation process to draw up the 2017 budget.

Councillors Víctor Ferrández and José Hurtado put five suggestions to a vote, which had been made over the the last few months in ballot boxes, emails and meetings with groups. The results were the following: construction of a youth recreation centre (35 votes), creation of a centre for charities (33), setting up a public crèche for 0-3 year olds (33), increasing cycle lances and a bicycle rental service (11) and creating the La Siesta-El Chaparral park (2).

“This vote has shown us the priorities that Torrevieja residents give these proposals, which will have money allocated for studies to evaluate how much they will cost so they can be included in later budgets,” commented Ferrández.
