Almoradí AECC charity dance day

Open classes on Saturday morning The Plaza de la Constitución in Almoradí will be the setting on Saturday, September 17th for a new charity activity organised by the local branch of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC). The Dance Factory academy, which is due to open soon, will offer workshops and exhibitions of dance throughout the morning. This charitable fun will start at 10am with a Zumba workshop, an hour later there will be a dance exhibition and the morning will culminate with a break dancing workshop, which is due to start at 12pm. Last Friday September 9th, we have started again our Friday meetings and we hope to see you back in our regular C.L.A.R.O Friday meetings. Please be informed that every Friday we have our English meetings from 5-6.30pm and then we have the Spanish group from 6.30-7.30pm. British man arrested at airport for domestic abuse

Girlfriend reported him to police in Orihuela A British man who was accused of abuse by his girlfriend in Orihuela has been caught as he was about to get on a flight to flee the country The National Police arrested the 57 year old British man at Alicante-Elche airport, where he had intended to get on a flight to Liverpool. His girlfriend, who is aged 23, reported the alleged abuse at Orihuela National Police station on September 13th. Once in possession of this information, and after activating the appropriate protocol for such cases, the officers were able to determine that the suspect has acquired a plane ticket to Liverpool. Therefore they set up discreet surveillance in the departures area until he was identified at passenger control, and after confirming his identity he was arrested. The arrest was made by officers of the Border Post Investigation Group of Alicante-Elche Airport, in collaboration with the UFAM Group of Orihuela National Police Station. La Mata fiestas start Friday

Four weekends of fun and religious activities for young and old The fiestas of La Mata (Torrevieja) in honour of the Virgen del Rosario start this Friday, September 16th with a ‘Cena de sobaquillo’ (bring your own food meal). There are both fun and religious activities, including a new soap-box car race and the usual paella contest, fancy dress parade, inflatable bull run for children, floral offering and pilgrimage to Lo Albentosa recreational area. Programme of events: Friday, September 16th 9:30pm – Bring your own dinner, disco. Plaza del Ayuntamiento Sunday, September 18th 7am – Dawn singing in the streets by the Almoradí Auroros association, Santo Rosartio in the Plaza de Encarnación Puchol then Mass in the church. 10am – Bouncy castles and mechanical bull. 1pm – Paella contest (up to 20 particpants). Saturday, September 24th 11am – Autos Locos soap box car race. Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Trophies and drinks for participants. Then water slide and disco. Sunday, September 25th 10am Romería (pilgrimage) from the church to Lo Albentosa municipal park. 12pm – Mass sung in the park by Hermandad Virgen del Rocío de Torrevieja choir. 6pm – Pilgrimage returns to the church.
