Thousands expected this weekend for role playing, cosplay, manga, anime, comics, video games, board games and more
A weekend of alternative recreational activities awaits in Torrevieja, where the ComarCON16 event will be on at the Palacio de los Deportes on September 17th and 18th. Councillor Pablo Samper, Román Mrozowycz of La Comarca Youth Association and Youth Centre (CIAJ) worker Rosa María Lárazo said it is special because of “the free entry, the variety of activities and the work of dedicated associations”.
Just a few of the activities include role playing games, cosplay (dressing as characters), video games, board games, workshops and talks, meetings with artists, themed competitions, soft combat, Jugger, water fights, dancing and raffles.
The new location at this sports centre will enable them to use open air facilities for some activities and cater for a lot of people. This year they are expecting about 3,000 visitors.
There will be a free Manga room, local associations dedicated to alternative forms of recreation and related products for sale. Samper said it will show people from other places who are seeking alternative ways to enjoy themselves what Torrevieja has to offer. Despite having 100,000 inhabitants, the only registered youth association is La Comarca but there will be information and help to show the advantages of setting associations up.
Mrozowycz informed the event will run from 10am to 9pm, but visitors can stay the night in the camping and participate in nocturnal activities too, like live role playing, DJ sessions, karaoke, board games or recording podcasts.
Rosa María Lázaro encouraged the general public to come along and enjoy the fun.
