From September 23rd-October 1st Orihuela will be the setting for the first Fotomatón Festival with Exhibitions in five different places, conferences, a master class and a photo rally, announced Councillor Mar Ezcurra.
The exhibitions will be of work by nationally renowned photographers, like Juan Manuel Burgos, from Cartagena in the Museo San Juan de Dios, called ‘Havana: interior vision’, which “will give us his vision of an unknown Cuba and whose work won the Olorum Iberoamericano prize”, said the councillor.
At the Audiotorio de La Lonja will be the work of Pepe Castro who “brings us portraits in black and white of very popular people”. Castro is one of the 18 ambassadors of Hasselblad and a regular contributor in the media.
Likewise, the Sala de Exposiciones Miguel Hernández will be the setting for a show of Jordi Flores’ work ‘Territorio urbano’.
Meanwhile, Pedro Díaz Molins will exhibit his images from the show ‘Sin rumbo’ in the Centro Cultural of the CAM, which includes the photo that won him a prestigious Sony World Photography Award.
The María Moliner library will feature works by various professional photographers showing daily scenes from society.
The inauguration of the event will be in the Sala Museo San Juan de Dios at 8pm on Friday, September 23rd. All the exhibitions also open on September 23rd while on Saturday the 24th the Auditorio de La Lonja will have a conference by Pepe Castro at 8pm, in which the artist will talk about his personal vision of photography and present his book ‘Face book’.
Castro will also give a master class in the Centro Comercial Ociopía for which participants have to register on the website www.pepecastro.com
The Photo Rally will be on October 1st from 9am starting at the centro comercial Ociopía, in which participants will have to take photos of the city related to the poet Miguel Hernández and his work. There is a prize of €500 and registration is available on the website http://concursofotografía.orihuela.es
The closing ceremony will be at the Auditorio de La Lonja from 6:30pm, where the winner of the rally and the Ciudad de Orihuela National Photography Contest will be decided, which had 614 entries, of which 10 finalists will be exhibited in the city.
