Local Fair and Moors and Christians celebrations until the end of July

The Almoradí Fair and Moors and Christians Fiestas start tomorrow, Friday, June 22nd. This means fun and activities for al ages right up until the end of the month.

There are children’s activities, concerts for young people, dances for senior citizens, sporting tournaments, performances, shows and of course parades.

Here is the full programme of events:

 

Friday, July 22nd

8pm – Collection of the outgoing and incoming fiesta Queens and Ladies with local authorities, fiesta officials, Peña Huertana (fiesta club) “Los Santicos de la Piedra” and Unión Musical band of Almoradí.

9pm – Reception at the Town Hall and turning on fiesta lights at the fair ground.

9:30pm – Official proclamation of the 2016 Fair and fiestas in the Plaza de la Constitución

11:30pm – Live show by In Vivo in the Plaza de la Constitución

12am – BARRACA DE LA JUVENTUD (Youth Bar) opens in the Pabellón Venancio Costa, 80s party, DJ, etc.

1:30am – Concert by “No me pises que llevo chanclas”.

 

Saturday, July 23rd

9am-8:30pm – Petanca tournament, Club Petanca Almoradí.

10am – Caliche and Birles tournament final in the Plaza de la Constitución.

From 10:30am – Children’s activities with Chase and Sky from “Patrulla Canina” in the Plaza de la Constitución.

7pm – Fiestas Football Trophy match between Eldense and Almoradí at the Estadio Sadrián.

8pm – Beach Volley Tournament final in the Polideportivo El Saladar.

9:30pm – Parade by the Peña Huertana, Calle Comunidad Valenciana, C/ Tomás Capdepón, Plaza de la Constitución and C/ Mayor.

Followed by speech in the Plaza de la Constitución and inauguration of the Pena Huertana museum on C/ la Reina. Opening hours: July 23rd, 24th, 25th 12pm-2pm and 8pm-11pm, and 26th 12pm-8pm.

11:30pm – Concert by Supersingles in the Plaza de la Constitución

12am – Verbena public dance at the Pabellón Municipal “Venancio Costa” with the Gamma Live band.

 

Sunday, July 24th

9am – Cycling with the “Agrupación del Bajo Segura” around the local streets.

10am – Wagon fiesta

  • Fiestas Chess Tournament

11pm – Concert by the Sociedad Unión Musical de Almoradí in the Plaza de la Constitución.

11pm – Youth bar in the Pabellón Municipal “Venancio Costa”with concerts by local bands “Skombros Street”, “Intransigencia” and “Random Play”

1:30am – Concert by “La Pulquería”.

 

Monday, July 25th

9am – Traditional pipe and drum players accompanied by “big heads” parade around the streets.

5:30pm-9:30pm – Giant kids play area “Drilo Park”, including spaceship, maze, karts circuit, wipe out and more, in the Plaza Juan Carlos I near Manuel de Torres school.

9pm – Inauguration of Barraca de la Tercera Edad (Senior citizens bar)

Exhibition of Almoradí photo competition

Performance by school choir

Performance of Spanish songs by Verónica Lozano.

Free cider and Almojábanas (cheesy bread snacks)

10pm – Almoradí Color Fest, unforgettable party of colours for families and youths with the best DJs in the country in the Pabellón Municipal “Venancio Costa.

10:30pm – Performance by “Manoli García” dance academy in the Plaza de la Constitución.

12am – Magic Show by El Mago Lumaky in the Plaza de la Constitución

 

Tuesday, July 26th

9am – Traditional pipe and drum players accompanied by “big heads” parade around the streets.

6pm – Fiestas Cycling Trophy Junior Race, start and finish on Avenida del Bañet.

7:30pm – Children’s show “El Tesoro Perdido” (The Lost Treasure)

9pm – Rhythmic Gymnastics show by the Municipal Sports School in the Plaza de la Constitución.

9:30pm – Concert by singer Juan Punzano in the Senior Citizens’ Bar, followed by dance in the Plaza de la Constitución.

10pm – Fiestas Dominoes Trophy presentation at the Sociedad Cultural Casino on C/ Tomás Capdepón and Fiestas Chinchón Championship presentation.

10:30pm – Performance by “Joseta” Dance Academy in the Plaza de Constitución.

11:30pm – Youth Bar in the Pabellón Municipal “Venancio Costa”, concert by “Nubes de Malta”.

12:30am – Tribute concert to Mecano.

 

Wednesday, July 27th

9am – Traditional pipe and drum players accompanied by “big heads” parade around the streets.

From 10:30am – Chaildrens activities and Water Games in the Plaza de la Constitución, folloed by loud firecracker display.

9:30pm – Performance by “Desyree” Dance School in the Plaza de la Constitución.

11pm – Retreta parade by the Moors and Christians, from Calle Valencia to the Cortés Theatre.

1:30am – Concert by “Baqueta” at the Youth Bar in the Pabellón Municipal “Venancio Costa”.

2am – End of Fair Alborada, big singalong.

 

Thursday, July 28th

7:40pm – Moors meet at the Kábila (tent headquarters) of the Moros Negros de Ben Yusuf and collect the Sultan from his house.

Christians meet at the Cuartelillo (tent headquarters) of the Caballeros Cruzados de Amarión then collect the Captain from his house.

Both sides meet on Calle Mayor for first day entry parade

8:30pm – First Day Entry Parade from Calle Mayor to the Plaza de la Constitución.

9:30pm – Presentation of the fiesta officials in the Plaza de la Constitución and official proclamation.

10:45pm – Moorish Ambassador and taking of the castle.

11:45pm – Inauguration of the kábilas and cuartelillos bars, followed by dancing.

 

Friday, July 29th

8am – Moorish and Christian bands play around the streets then meet at the castle.

8:30pm – Entry of the bands for the parade from the Cortés Theatre to Calle Valencia.

9:30pm – Entry of the Moors parade starting Calle Valencia.

Followed by dancing at the kábilas and cuartelillos bars.

 

Saturday, July 30th

8am – Moorish and Christian bands play around the streets then meet at the castle.

8pm – Holy Mass for the Santos de la Piedra, San Abdón and San Senén, with offerings of fruit and the fiesta officials, followed by procession.

9pm – Entry of the bands for the parade from the Cortés Theatre to Calle Valencia.

10pm – Entry of the Christians parade starting Calle Valencia.

Followed by dancing at the kábilas and cuartelillos bars.

 

Sunday, July 31st

8am – Moorish and Christian bands play around the streets then meet at the castle.

11am – Meeting of the Moors at the Kabila of the Moros Negros de Ben Yusuf and of the Chrstians at the Cuartelillo of the Comparsa Caballeros Cruzados de Amarión.

All go to the Plaza de la Constitución.

11:30 – The Embajada del Barril (Ambassador of the Barrel) performance in the Plaza de la Constitución.

8:45pm – The Moors meet at the Kábila of the Moros Negros de Ben Yusuf to collect the Sultan from his house.

The Christians meet at the Cuartelillo of the Caballeros Cruzados de Amarión to collect the Captain from his house.

They meet at the Plaza de la Constitución.

9:45pm – The Christian Amabassador and the taking of the castle.

11pm – Dancing in the Kábilas and Cuartelillos.
