Search for missing Torrevieja girl

16 year old Saray Palacín Gómez was last seen on Friday The authorities are looking for Saray Palacín Gómez, a young Spanish girl from Torrevieja who is aged 16 and disappeared in the afternoon on Friday, May 20th. A photo of the young girl has been circulated with information about her physical appearance and the clothing she was wearing the last time she was seen. She is 1.6 metres tall (5’3”), slim with long chestnut hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a short t shirt with black sleeves, dark jeans and pale blue trainers. The last time she was seen was at about 5pm on Friday on Avenida Inglaterra. The girl is a pupil at the IES Mediterráneo secondary school in Torrevieja, which has just shared a photo on its official Facebook page and asked for the public’s help to find her. Experience Orihuela in virtual reality on Friday

Plan to use the latest technology in the city’s museums There will be an opportunity to experience the latest virtual reality technology in Orihuela on Friday, May 27th. The activities will be taking place at La Lonja Centro Cultural in Orihuela city from 11am until 8pm. Councillor Mar Ezcurra explained that using virtual reality glasses, it will be possible to join in the Easter processions and do the ‘caracol’ (snail ) formation march with Los Armaos, the troupe of Roman soldiers, amongst other scenarios. You can also play videogames and try a 360º camera, 3D scanners, spinning platforms and other equipment. There will also be entertaining talks about the latest advances and technology in virtual reality. This is intended as a pilot experience to test how this technology works to incorporate it into the city’s museums. The manager of the company organising the event, Juan Guerrero said these are very useful tools in the tourism industry and Orihuela is “at the vanguard” after recording some of the Easter fiestas and the Museums night to use with the glasses, and plans to do the same with the Moors and Christians. “This is a way of helping people to learn using new technologies and so attracts the attention of young people especially,” he said....

Torrevieja businesses invited to join in with Happy Night

Special night of movie themed activities planned for June 15 Registration is now open for Torrevieja businesses that want to take part in the Happy Night de Cine (Happy Night of Cinema) on Friday, June 15th. It is being organised by the Town Hall and the local Small and Medium Business Association (APYMECO). They are planning to set up entertainment with movie themed activities in different places, including soundtrack concerts, actors dressed as famous characters, free popcorn, superhero face painting and Harry Potter magic wand workshops, among others. Businesses who want to participate must register before May 31st and promise to stay open between 9pm and midnight on June 15th. They also have to organise (alone or with other businesses) some kind of event and/or put on a promotion or discount for the public, which they must inform the Town Hall about so that it can be included it the advertising for the event. They could offer customers a free gift, drink or canapé, or have a DJ, live music, children’s entertainment or photocall. They must also offer a promotion for these three hours which is linked to making a purchase from the business.
