Crime may have gone undiscovered for a week

A man seems to have killed his wife, who was aged 30, their eight month old baby and then taken his own life at a home in Torrevieja, according to the Emercency Coordination Centre (CICU). The Guardia Civil discovered the bodies of the family, who were all Polish, on New Year’s Eve after the mother of the murdered woman, who lives in Orihuela Costa, alerted the emergency services because she had not heard anything from them since Christmas Eve.

The incident happened in a home in central Torrevieja, on Calle Ramón Gallud, where officers’ initial findings indicate that the crime could have happened a week before and the deaths had been violent.

The bodies were taken to the forensic institute for autopsies and if confirmed, will have brought the number of women killed by domestic violence in Spain in 2015 to 57.
