Mayor encourages U3A to work together to help people

The University of the Third Age association, U3A invited the Mayor of Torrevieja, José Manuel Dolón and Councillors Domingo Pérez and Carmen Morate to their monthly meeting to tell them about their activities and thank them for letting them use the Municipal Leisure Centre (CMO).

With more than 700 members, mostly from the UK; the U3A Torrevieja is for older people who want to stay active and includes various clubs that raise money for charities with all kinds of initiatives.

The Mayor told them “the Town Hall’s doors are open and its 12 councillors are available to attend to their needs and learn their concerns”.

Dolón praised the group’s intense activities in the town and reminded them that when he started the job he met with the British Ambassador in Spain, Simon Manley and the Consul, Sarah-Jane Morris in Alicante.

He said one of the main problems is the language barrier and the need for institutions to collaborate closely so they can resolve the problems of people living in Torrevieja, “a promise that I accept gladly, we have to work together”.
