The Valencian Education Cepartment has modified the requirements for grants to get school transport so that beneficiaries no longer have to live within 3 kilometres of the school “in a straight line”. It now states that “the school must be the nearest one following the shortest accessible and safe route to their home”. With this measure about 500 families could recover their right to school transport from the Valencian Government.

The modification is in line with several pronouncements of the Superior Court of Justice (TSJ) which declared the measuring of the 3km in a straight line to be discriminaroty against some pupils.

The application deadline for these grants has been extended to September 4th.
