12th Torrevieja Band Festival

A world of music at the Municipal Theatre between 26th and 30th August Torrevieja’s XII Band Festival kicks off on August 26th, involving bands from all over Spain and overseas. The event is organised annually by the Torrevieja Musical Society “Los Salerosos”, always offering a real treat to music lovers. The festival will open with the gala tribute concert “Recordando a Nino Bravo” (Remembering Nino Bravo), which was originally due to show in July but had to be postponed, and will be hosted by vocalist Laida Benache, accompanied by Torrevieja Musical Society Band and vocalists Felipe Garpe and José Valhondo. The concerts that follow will feature the following bands: Miraflores Music Band of Gibraljaire (Málaga); Kolbotn Konsert Orkesten (Norwegian); the Philharmonic Beheetoven Band from Campo de Criptana (Ciudad Real); and the event organisers. The concerts will be rolled out during Wednesday and Thursday, with a final gala taking place on Friday, featuring participation by Kolbotn Konsert Orkesten (Norway) and the City of Torrevieja Musical Society. Antonio Ortuño delivers dramatic magic show tonight

Young illusionist presents “Illusion on Fire” at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Centre At only 19 years old, Antonio Ortuño already has a solid career paved out, with sufficient charisma and charm to enchant and entice audiences of all ages. The talented actor and illusionist has undergone many years of intensive training in the acting field, and is now bringing those talents back to his home town of Torrevieja, along with three years of self-taught magic. The show, “IIlusionismo en llamas” (Illusionism on Fire) combines thrilling drama, incredible illusions and exciting tricks with a hint of fire that are guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Ortuño explained that he had a great interest in magic as a young child, but eventually grew out of it as his interests turned to other activities. However, his passion was rekindled three years ago during a poker game with a Ukrainian colleague, who demonstrated two impressive card tricks that made him want to learn more. Torrevieja water park days for disabled people

Aquopolis has special activities at a discount price on 23rd and 30th August For the past year, “Torrevieja Aquapolis” water park has been working in collaboration with AMFA “Torrevieja Solidaria” and the Department for Accessibility, to launch the initiative “All-inclusive blue leisure days”, which enables people with physical disabilities to enjoy a fun-filled day out at minimum cost, taking advantage of all of the facilities provided by the park. Torrevieja Solidaria relies on the support of a group of volunteers, who work to offer a range of fun and stimulating activities for people who suffer from varying degrees of disability. They work to adapt surroundings to meet disabled people’s needs, and allow them to integrate and enjoy leisure activities alongside other able-bodied people. AMFA explained that during the two blue leisure days, participants will be offered a variety of activities, including water volleyball, a card tournament, relaxation sessions and many more surprises that would not be possible without the help of the young volunteers.
